WELCOME TO PICKLEBALL

Pickleball?? Wonder what all the hype is about? You probably know one or more pickleballers by now. And you probably know that they can't stop talking about pickleball.

WHY?  Because it is SO MUCH FUN!!

PPRSC has 2 pickleball courts on Tennis Court 5 and will offer Open Play, Learn to Play clinics, in addition to other clinics, events and socials. Non-members are welcome for an additional $5 guest fee. Check out the Events Calendar for more information.

If you haven't played before, please join one of our Learn to Play Pickleball clinics. By the end of the 1.5 hour lesson, you will be able to join others on the court and play.

After you've learned to play or if you have played before, we offer a variety of clinics to help you continue your growth. Pickleball is VERY easy to learn but very HARD to master. If you want to just go out on the courts and have a blast whacking that wiffle ball around, you are part of a HUGE community who just wants to play and laugh. But, if you find the game challenging and want to continue your growth and knowledge, taking clinics and lessons is an excellent way to progress your game.

Visit the Open Play & Clinics page to learn more about Open Play opportunities and to view the clinics we offer. The list of clinics will change and grow. The game is always changing and strategy and skills needed change along with the game.
  • We have entry level pickleball paddles available for those who need to borrow a paddle, located in the storage unit adjacent to the pickleball courts.
  • NETS: Rollaway nets are stored on the sidelines of court 5. At the middle of each pickleball court, there is a small marking which denotes where the rollaway net should be centered. After the net is in place, the wheels can be easily locked down to keep the net stationary. Upon completing play, unlock the wheels and store the net at the side of the court. The nets are club property and it is your obligation to treat them with care. Please roll the net onto and off of the pickleball court with a fellow player, and lock the end wheels when storing the net after playing to keep them from rolling back onto the court with high winds.
  • Balls will be provided for private lessons and clinics only. Be sure to bring your own ball to Open Plays. Each player should bring a ball to the court. Make sure you have your initials or some other identifying mark on your balls!

  • If you are interested in a clinic, please check our calendar or you can email our Director of Pickleball, Julie Smith at julie@pickleballisthethirdplace.com or text at 919.448.6150. Julie is also available for private and semi-private lessons and clinics. She also welcomes any and all ideas and feedback regarding the pickleball program at PPRSC!

RESERVING COURTS

Members can book a court through the Scheduling Calendar HERE. A link is above to reserve a court...but make sure to read below before booking. You can book a court in 30 minute increments up to a maximum of 2 hours. Remember that reservations take priority over walk-up play.

The two pickleball courts are located on tennis court 5 and are referenced as pickleball courts 5A and 5B, with 5A being nearest to the entry gate. When booking a court, you will see PB Ct 5A and PB Ct 5B as shown below.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Tennis court 5 and PB 5A and 5B consume the same space. Therefore, if tennis court 5 is reserved, PB courts 5A and 5B are not available at that time. Similarly, if pickleball 5A or 5B are reserved, tennis court 5 isn't available.

Unfortunately, the scheduler doesn't have the logic within the system to block out the appropriate courts when one of these courts is reserves so we rely upon you to observe and comply with this scheduler work around.

Second IMPORTANT NOTE:  Neither pickleball court can be used if there is an adjacent USTA or Queen City Tennis League match being played on Court 6. So, please look at tennis courts 5 and 6 before booking a pickleball court. If tennis court 5 is book, that means pickleball courts aren't available. If court 6 is booked for a USTA or QCTL match, then again, pickleball courts aren't available at that time.
